I will never forget the impact this story has had on us all but most especially this beautiful family. I am incredibly moved and impressed by this family yet so deeply heartbroken over their tragedy. We can only hope to learn from these wonderful girls and their brave mother and live our lives in a way that truly honors their goodness.

There may only be just a few days over the past 4 and a half years that I hadn't thought about you and your beautiful wife, Jennifer, and daughters, Hayley and Michaela. I'm sure at first, it was the absolute senseless and random act of pure evil that first caught my attention but it was YOUR ability to unselfishly stand up to it with courage, determination, grace and integrity that kept me connected. Your ability to do so leaves no doubt in my mind that these were three very special women who were clearly loved and cherished by an AMAZING man. You deserve all of life's blessings and happiness. Read the article and saw your picture in PEOPLE-congrats to you and Christine. It was nice to see the smile on your face (Michaela has the same smile) and I'm thrilled to see that the "twinkle" has returned to your eyes. I didn't know the Pettit's, in fact, I live on the other side of the country. But this story made me so angry and sad. Dr. Pettit, I am so glad you have found someone to love and who loves you and you and your family will always be in my prayers. God Bless!
